3 Days till Copenhagen!!
It is exactly 3 hours and 13 minutes until the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. This will be the first time since the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, that the leaders of many countries in the world will meet to discuss a new course of action towards climate change. The possibility of reaching a legal binding agreement between the developed and developing nations is extremely low, but action still needs to be taken. The biggest players in GHG emissions are: China (ranks #1 in emissions) and the United States (ranks #2). These two countries impact at Copenhagen will truly predict the future of our world. In an ideal situation, both China and the US will agree to cut emissions (from the 2000 levels) 30% by the year 2050. European Countries, especially the ones present in the European Union, have already done their part after the Kyoto Protocol, utilizing renewable energy resources and becoming more sustainable countries. The US and China need to follow their lead and begin reducing their emissions, or else the earth will be unrepairable.
